The tool turns that into runnable script behind the scenes. - The generated script appears in the **⓶ Code Editor**. To change numbers or structure, click **⓶ Code Editor** in the top bar. ### Code mode (Code Editor) After switching to the **⓸ Code Editor**, you're in **code mode**: **parametric modeling** with an OpenSCAD-style script—code on the left, geometry on the right. - **Top bar** - **⓵ Import**: drag in an existing OpenSCAD script - **⓶ Export**: export the current code as an OpenSCAD file - **⓷ Run**: after you edit the code, click **Run** so the **3D viewport** **refreshes** with the latest script ## Suggested flow (from first use to export) **Path A: start from chat (beginners)** 1. Open the **AI Assistant** and click an **example prompt** to run through the whole flow. 2. Start with **one sentence** in the input box; if the result is off, **add more detail** (size, purpose, what to change). 3. The tool **auto-generates** OpenSCAD-style code and usually **runs it automatically**; the **3D viewport** updates with the model. 4. If it's still not right, switch to the **⓸ Code Editor (code mode)**, edit **variables/parameters**, then click **Run** to see the update. **Path B: start from code (if you already know scripting)** 1. Go straight to the **⓸ Code Editor**, **import** a script, or start from blank. 2. Use variables and comments to keep parameters clear; click **Run** to check the geometry on the right. :::warning Generation can fail occasionally, and that is normal. Try rewriting the prompt and running it again, or adjust the code manually. ::: ## FAQ ### Q: What if the result doesn't match what I imagined? A: Add **constraints** (size, proportions, wall thickness, hollow or not, etc.) or **split into steps** (main body first, then details). ### Q: Do I have to know OpenSCAD? A: **No**. Whether you're a hobbyist, helping kids explore creativity, doing a side business, running a craft shop, or a small workshop—you can use our software to make work that's yours. From locking in what to customize, fast part segmentation, smooth edges, to one‑click structures, everyone can find a workflow that fits. It's straightforward to pick up, so customization doesn't have to be hard. ### Q: What production problems does your software mainly help me solve? **A:** The core idea is to **lower the barrier**—modeling and segmenting parts shouldn't be the thing that stops 3D printing users. - **One‑click Repair Model** gives you a solid base before segmentation - **AI Segmentation** helps avoid mixed colors in printing, shortens print time, and yields clearer structure that's easier to assemble - Rich **Real Crafting** extensions let you add text, bases, rings, and more—stronger look and detail, with results that are reliable, refined, and valuable for real use or sale ### Q: I have no pro background but want a 3D printing business—can you help? **A:** Absolutely. Our line is **“everyone can have a business to run.”** The app simplifies the hard parts: beginners can take small decor and gift orders; makers can level up with boxes and kit‑style builds; print shops and studios can batch work and move faster. With basic operations, you can produce work that's ready to use or sell. --- ### Q: What should I do if sharp edges appear during segmentation? A: Try adjusting the **smooth contour** between adjacent regions so edges blend more naturally and look less sharp. :::warning Note Do not adjust smooth contour while **segmenting adjacent regions**, or you may get sharp edges or boundary artifacts. ::: ### Q: What should I do if many small regions appear during segmentation? A: If many small regions appear after segmentation, try: 1. **Undo first**: Use Undo to go back to before segmentation 2. **Adjust smoothness**: Tune smoothness between adjacent regions repeatedly until it looks right 3. **Repair first**: If it's severe, use [Repair Model](/docs/core/repair), then segment again ### Q: Any tips for segmenting a model into parts? **A:** Here are patterns that often help (no single “right” order—pick what fits the model): 1. **Order of cuts** - **Small first (optional)**: Handle **small protrusions or attachments** first, then segment the main body. - **Large first (optional)**: Define **major blocks** from assembly and print orientation, then refine each block. 2. **Semi‑enclosed parts** (shells, covers, half‑wraps, etc.) - Decide **which side is easier to keep intact**—clips and alignment often sit on one side; try to **disturb that side less** when segmenting. - You can start by separating a **more independent region** on the looser side; if the boundary is messy, regions fragment, or clips suffer, **undo**. - After undo, **reselect from an adjacent large region** and segment again—retrying beats forcing a bad cut. For more detail, see **[AI Segmentation](/docs/core/segment)**. ### Q: How do I save the model after editing? A: Two ways: **Option 1: Save to Artifacts Posts** - When done, click **Share** in the top toolbar - Choose **Save to personal space** - Find your work under [Artifacts Posts](/docs/features/posts) **Option 2: Auto-save** - If you leave or switch pages, progress is saved automatically - You can return and continue without losing work ### Q: How do I get help? A: 1. **Dedicated support**: Use the first icon on the right of the top bar (“Dedicated support”) to reach the team 2. **Help**: Click the **?** help button at the bottom-right for guides and how-tos ### Q: How do I show 3MF colors in Bambu Studio? A: Upgrade Bambu Studio to **2.5.0 or later**—that version supports standard 3MF color display. ### Q: How do I share my work? To show your work in Discover+Show: 1. **Find it**: Open [Artifacts Posts](/docs/features/posts) and locate your work 2. **Publish**: On the row, open **More** → **Publish to Discover** 3. **Done**: It appears in Discover+Show for others to see :::tip Share options When you open **More**, you'll see: - **Publish to Discover** — publish to Discover+Show (public) - **Save to personal space** — keep it private in your space only ::: ### Q: How do I engrave or add text on a model surface? **A:** Yes. Create text in the **Playground**, then move, rotate, and scale the text and model until it sits where you want. For carving, decoration, or richer surface work, use **[Real Crafting](/docs/core/crafting)** (exact tools depend on the in-app UI). ### Q: How do I cut a model in half (separate it into two parts)? **A:** Yes. In **Real Crafting**, choose **Carve**, then **Plane**. ### Q: How do I upload a custom font? **A:** The app supports your own fonts. Typical entry points: - **Playground**: **Text** → **Fonts**, open the list, choose **Custom font**, and upload when prompted. - **Real Crafting**: **Carve** → **3D text**, then **Custom font** in the font list and upload. - **Real Crafting**: **Add-on** → **3D text**, then **Custom font** in the font list and upload. :::warning Only **.ttf**, **.otf**, and **.json** are supported. After upload, the font appears in the font list in all three places above. ::: ### Q: My 3D text is in the wrong place—how do I adjust it? **A:** In the **Playground** or **Real Crafting**, after creating text open **Manipulate** and use: - **Place**: **Click** on the model surface—the text **snaps to that surface**. - **Move**: **Drag** the text to reposition. - **Rotate**: **Drag** to change orientation. - **Remove**: Delete the current 3D text. ### Q: Why doesn't changing “width” seem to do much? **A:** Set **size** to a good range **before** you create the 3D text. After creation, “width” usually adjusts **letter spacing (tracking)**, not the **overall footprint** of the whole line. :::warning To change how much space the whole line takes, prefer adjusting **size** before you create the text. ::: --- ## Common Features The following basics are included in **every subscription plan**—whichever plan you choose, you can use them all. ## Interface overview :::tip Quick import You can drag a model file anywhere on the page; the app will detect and load it. ::: ### Top bar ### ⓵ Top bar - **⓶ Menu**: tap the icon to open the menu - **⓷ Right side**: human support, Yo.Me (chat), code library, invite friends, profile, settings, and more ### Settings **⓵ Language** - UI languages: **Simplified Chinese**, **English** - Can follow the browser language - Your choice is remembered for the next login **⓶ Theme** - **Light** — bright environments - **Dark** — dim environments (default) - **Follow system** — match OS theme **⓷ Navigation layout** - **Left nav** — menu on the left (default) - **No nav** — hide the side menu - **Top nav** — menu along the top **⓸ Toggle chrome** - **Show header** — top bar on/off - **Show footer** — bottom footer on/off ### Toolbar Click the **Settings** icon on the top-right to open the panel and tune your workspace. - **⓵ Grid**: show / hide grid - **⓶ Axes**: show / hide axes - **⓷ Wireframe**: show / hide wireframe - **⓸ Data**: show / hide model data panel - **⓹ More**: extra tools (pick base face, center align, defect check, …) - **⓺ Share / save**: share work or save to personal space - **⓻ Export**: GLB / 3MF / STL, etc. :::info When you **share your work** (this creates an **Artifacts Post**), your account can earn **YCoin** rewards. ::: ### Bottom helper buttons **⓵ Workflow** (purple round) - Jump quickly between workspaces: 3D editor, model library, community, personal space, etc. **⓶ Help** (gray round, **?**) - In-depth explanations and tips - Learn tools faster - Shortcuts to other features :::warning Important Only these two buttons carry the **current model** into another page for further work. ::: ## What's in the app Yo.Town Maker is organized in the left nav. You can run these in **either Playground or Real Crafting**, with different levels of flexibility and setup speed. ## When to use this - Combine two models into one (Union) - Cut holes or remove parts from a model (Difference) - Keep only overlapping geometry (Intersection) ## Which approach to choose (focus on Difference) ### Option 1: Use Difference in Playground (more customizable) **Pros** - You can import custom models (including models generated from images), so flexibility is high. - Better for personalized shapes and more complex cut paths. **Watch-outs** - You need finer manual control of position, size, and angle. - New users may need a few tries to get alignment and overlap right. ::::warning For Difference in Playground, selection order matters: select **A** first, then **B**. The result is **A - B**. :::: ### Option 2: Use Real Crafting (easier to start) **Pros** - More fixed and intuitive workflow, so it is quicker to learn. - Basic position and size adjustments are often enough to get usable results. **Watch-outs** - Editable range is smaller than Playground, but faster for practical outcomes. - This path is mainly based on platform-provided models and tools. ## Before you start 1. Open Playground (or Real Crafting) and prepare 2 overlapping models (for example, a cube and a cylinder). 2. Position them so they clearly intersect. 3. Choose the boolean type you need: Union / Difference / Intersection. :::tip Before running boolean operations, create a backup copy (for example by sharing/saving as a post). If the result is not ideal, you can reopen that model and continue from there. ::: ## Example A: Union (merge into one object) **Goal**: Merge a cube and a cylinder into one connected model. 1. Select both models (multi-select). 2. Click **Union**. 3. Check the result: they should become one object. 4. Use move/rotate/scale if you need to adjust placement. **Quick checks** - Is it still two separate objects? - Is the merged seam acceptable? ## Example B: Difference (cut a hole) **Goal**: Cut a cylindrical hole through a cube. 1. Prepare a base object (cube) and a cutter object (cylinder). 2. Select the base first, then the cutter. 3. Click **Difference**. 4. Check the result: the cube should have a hole or slot where the cutter overlaps. **Quick checks** - Selection order correct? (Wrong order can invert the result.) - Does the cutter actually pass through the base? ## Example C: Intersection (keep overlap only) **Goal**: Keep only the overlapping volume of a cube and a sphere. 1. Prepare two overlapping objects. 2. Select both objects. 3. Click **Intersection**. 4. Check the result: only the shared overlap remains. **Quick checks** - Is there enough overlap area? - Does the shape match your expectation? ## Continue in Real Crafting (optional) After boolean operations, you can switch to Real Crafting for quick adjustments and detail refinement: 1. Use workflow navigation to open Real Crafting. 2. If the result already looks good, you can export directly. 3. If you want cleaner surface details, use sculpt / attach / base tools to refine. 4. Mortise-and-hinge operations are also supported: choose the joint type you need and connect parts faster. ## FAQ ### Q1: Nothing changed after clicking a boolean operation - Make sure two objects are selected. - Check that the two objects actually overlap. - It may just be taking longer to compute; wait a moment and check again. - Undo, slightly adjust placement, and try again. ### Q2: Difference result looks reversed - Re-run with correct selection order: base first, cutter second. ### Q3: Edges look rough after boolean - Undo, slightly adjust overlap position, and run again. - Or switch to Real Crafting for cleanup. --- ## Disassembly Steps This page covers a practical Yo.Town Maker segmentation workflow for 3D printing: model prep, repair, segmentation, and export for repeatable part-separation results. ## Detailed Steps for Model Disassembly ### Preparation Stage ```mermaid flowchart LR A[Import file] --> B[Repair model] B --> C{Has defects?} C -->|Yes| D[Auto repair] C -->|No| E[AI segmentation] D --> E E --> F[Start segmentation] ``` ### Manual Operation Stage ```mermaid flowchart LR A[Manual mode] --> B{Good position?} B -->|Yes| C[Smooth boundary & choose connectormove out part] B -->|No| D[Smart lasso: new cut & close boundaryselect region: smooth & detach part] C --> E[Disassembly complete] D --> E ``` ### Create or Prepare a Model **Option A: Generate with AI** - Use any model generation tool you prefer. **Option B: Use your own model** - Use an existing 3D model file. - Or pick one from the model library. ### Import Model **Recommended: Drag and drop** - Drag the model file anywhere on the page. - The system detects and loads it automatically. **Alternative: Click Import** - Click the top toolbar **Import** button. - Select a file to finish import. **Supported formats**: .glb, .3mf, .stl, .obj, .ply, .fbx ### Repair Model (Recommended) **When should you repair first?** - You get many tiny segmented regions. - The model has defects or a complex structure. ### Segment Model **Steps:** 1. Choose a segmentation mode (Quick / Deep / Manual). 2. Run segmentation (regions are shown in different colors). 3. Select a region and click **Detach Region**. 4. Choose a connector type (Right-angle / Mushroom / Chain). 5. If needed, run **Smooth Boundary** multiple times. ::::tip Tip If detached parts look grainy, undo and smooth the two neighboring regions several times. :::: ### Export Model **How to export:** - Click **Export** - Choose output format - Finish export ::::warning Important - If you want true separated-part printing in slicer software, move detached regions/modules before export. :::: ## Submenu: Import & Repair Examples ### Example 1: Drag in first, then quick repair Use this when your model is mostly clean and only needs light cleanup before segmentation. 1. Drag and drop your model file into the page. 2. Open repair and run the recommended repair flow. 3. Continue to segmentation after repair. ### Example 2: Complex structure, fix defects first Use this when the model has holes, broken faces, or dense details that may hurt segmentation quality. 1. Import model, then repair first. 2. Start with auto repair to stabilize the model. 3. If still not good enough, apply deeper repair. 4. Move to segmentation after repair looks correct. ## Submenu: Segmentation & Optimization Examples ### Example 1: Quick segmentation but rough boundaries Use this when segmented parts are generated, but boundaries still look rough. 1. Complete segmentation and region detaching with **Quick** mode. 2. Check boundary smoothness and connector fit. 3. Use **Smooth Boundary** repeatedly where needed. 4. Export only after the boundary quality is acceptable. ### Example 2: Manually detach key parts Use this when you have specific areas that must be separated exactly as planned. 1. Switch to **Manual** mode in the segmentation step. 2. Mark and cut the exact region you want to separate. 3. Check alignment/connector results on key parts. 4. Export once the result matches your intent. ## Scenario Examples (Easy-to-follow) ### Example 1: Fast disassembly for a normal model Use this when defects are limited and you want a quick result. 1. Import model (drag-drop preferred). 2. Repair first for cleaner structure. 3. Segment with **Quick** mode. 4. Smooth boundaries where needed. 5. Export in your target format. ### Example 2: Complex model with many defects Use this when the model has many holes, flaws, or very fragmented segmented regions. 1. Import with drag-drop for faster setup. 2. Repair first, starting from auto repair. 3. If Quick segmentation is poor, switch to Deep or Manual. 4. Check connectors and repeat smoothing until clean. 5. Export after confirming segmentation quality. ### Example 3: Segmentation export for 3D printing Use this when you want the exported model to be clearly separated in slicer software. 1. Import and repair before segmentation. 2. Segment and detach regions. 3. Move detached modules for print-friendly layout. 4. Recheck boundaries to avoid rework. 5. Export and continue in your slicer. ## Start Now [**Open Repair Tool**](https://maker.yotown.com/programlet/repair) Click the button above to open Yo.Town Maker's repair page and start preparing your model.
